
About Us

The welfare initiative for seafarers was established in 2001 by the National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI). It is recognised as a Public Charitable Institution and is registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950.
The core mission of the NUSI/ITF Trust is to enhance the welfare and well-being of Indian seafarers and their families across India. The Trust is committed to serving a broad community of Indian seafarers and their dependents through well-managed welfare schemes.
The Trust is overseen by SEVEN Honorary Trustees: TWO are distinguished representatives of foreign ship owners, and FIVE are nominated by the NATIONAL UNION OF SEAFARERS OF INDIA. The daily operations of the Trust and its various units are managed by an Administrator and a support team based in Mumbai, India.
Over the past two years (2022-2024), the Trust has extended significant support to seafarers and their families through various welfare initiatives.

Units of Trust
The Trust operates three training institutes located at different places: the first is the NUSI Maritime Academy (NMA) in Goa, the second is NUSI Offshore Training Institute (NOTI) in Panvel, Maharashtra, dedicated to Rating Skill Development, and the third is Mohamed Ebrahim Serang Centre (MESC) in Valsad, Gujarat, specifically for training Indian Rating Seafarers comes for the coastline of Gujarat & Valsad.
The Trust operates one Holiday Home for seafarers and their families in Lonavala, Maharashtra (located 100 km from Mumbai and 65 km from Pune). This Holiday Home offers low-cost accommodation and meals to Indian seafarers throughout the year. For booking and more information - Click here
